We Put Gully Guard to the Ultimate Strength Test, You Won’t Believe the Results!

Have you ever wondered about the durability of our Gully Guard?

We did too, so we put it to the test!

Working with the team at Bexmedia, we set up a simple but powerful demonstration to find out just how much weight the Gully Guard can really handle. No flashy edits. No gimmicks. Just the product again proving its worth… and then some.

💪 Spoiler alert: it’s stronger than you may think.

If you’ve worked with Forest Group UK in the past, you know we don’t leave things to speculation. We run tests on all our products to ensure that they meet our strict standards, so you have peace of mind that the products you buy from us, are not only doing their job, but do it well time and time again. This is why we’ve spent time with the University of Sheffield to run laboratory tests, proving the Gully Guard to capture 99% of total suspended solids and also surface water contaminants such as; PAH’s, heavy metals, de-icing agents, nitrates and phosphates.

The Experiment

This time we’re back to run another type of test, to find out how strong the Gully Guard is?
Working with the Bexmedia team, we came up with an experiment that would really put the Gully Guard to the ultimate strength test.

We took a standard Gully Guard that had been sitting in a gully pot quietly doing it’s job filtering run off water for a local client for 2 years. After attaching 2 fixing points onto the bottom of the bag, this 2 year old Gully Guard was ready to be thrust into the lime light.

We looped the handles of the Gully Guard to the forks of a fork lift and used the two attachment points to hang a 1000 litre IBC right off the bottom of the Gully Guard.

We then filled the IBC with water, as the cameras rolled and we waited with baited breath. At what point would the Gully Guard break?

The Results

Even after 2 years of use the Gully Guard proved to be a mighty competitor. This really this shouldn’t be too much of a shock as the high grade material we use to contain our specialist EPS Bead, is some pretty heavy duty stuff. It’s made to withstand the most demanding environments and the repetitive friction being inserted and removed from a gully pot many times over.

After holding out for over 30 minutes, the Gully Guard finally gave way at a whopping 600KG of weight! ……we were expecting a huge bead explosion, but no, even after taking the weight of over 200 standard house bricks, the Gully Guard broke, but still didn’t let go of a single bead!

Why Gully Guard is the Clear Choice

Gully Guard is trusted by housebuilders, groundworkers, Civil Engineers, and utilities contractors amongst others across the UK as it’s quick to install, easy to remove, and built to last, even in the most demanding environments. We know site conditions are tough. That’s exactly why Gully Guard is engineered the way it is. Whether you’re dealing with heavy silt, storm runoff or repeat installs, you need a product that won’t let you down.

And if you’re already using Gully Guard, now you can show your team just how durable it really is.
